Dominik Schildknecht completed his Ph.D. in the summer of 2019 at the ETH Zurich. There, his main focus was the theoretical description of dipolar-coupled classical spin system, specifically those with continuous degrees of freedom. This work was performed in collaboration with Professors Peter Derlet and Laura Heyderman. This research lead to several first-author publications focused on theoretical descriptions, as well as some co-author contributions to experimental papers.
Current Research Interests
Dominik joined the Thomsonlab in 2020, where his main research interest lies in the theoretical description of active matter systems. The fundamental methods to study these phenomena will range from analytic calculations, over large scale simulations to the application of machine learning approaches to uncover novel insights into these challenging systems.
